BIO (2023)

My name is Courtney Jenkins. I am a Fitness and Wellness Specialist who received a Master’s of Science degree in Exercise and Wellness, from Arizona State University. Additionally, I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, specializing in Motivational Interviewing Methodologies and an educator/practitioner with principles of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. My educational background also include: Associate’s degree in both Fire Science and Electronic Technology. Other certifications include: State Certified Emergency Paramedic, American Council of Exercise PEER Fitness Trainer and Maricopa County Adjunct Professor.

I am a retired First Responder with the City of Phoenix Fire Department. During my 26 year tenure, I performed the duties of a Firefighter/Paramedic, Engineer/Driver, Captain and Chief Officer. My service also included supervision of non-sworn personnel in Fire Prevention. Encompassing, well-over two decades of experience, providing Motivational Speaking engagements, facilitating Health and Wellness workshops for multiple government entities and serving as a Community Education Specialist (CES). I continue assisting firefighter’s with Physical Agility Fitness and Health and Wellness Coaching.

My life goes full circle with being a father of four, that credits the raising of my children as being the most effective training ground for my own personal growth, as well as my greatest joy. In my spare time, I enjoy martial arts, weight training, writing poetry, hiking, camping, singing, laughing, dancing and meditation (spending quiet time alone). My philosophy is, that it is better to give than to receive, because not only does it add value through sharing, but giving defines receiving. Simply put, you can only give what you have, and the more you give, is a measure of what you have received. I will continue to lead by this example.
